About Sarah Piano Teacher

I’m Sarah, a piano teacher based in Acton, near Sudbury, Suffolk. With over 21 years of teaching experience, I’ve helped children and adults of all ages discover the pleasure of playing the piano. I now specialise in small-class lessons where students develop musical skills, grow in confidence and enjoy making music together.

I started learning the piano aged six in a very traditional setting and music has been a huge part of my life ever since. My aim is to give students a welcoming, encouraging place to learn, explore and feel proud of their achievements.

My lessons bring together playing by ear, improvisation, composition, ensemble playing and reading music. Through varied pieces, musical games and creative activities, students develop listening, rhythm, coordination and independence. Learning alongside others also offers opportunities to share ideas, support one another and experience the satisfaction of playing as a team.

I hold the Certificate of the Piano Teachers’ Course UK (Cert PTC), completed in 2021, and have undertaken specialist group piano teacher training with Keynotes Music. I am also a member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) and hold an enhanced DBS check. I continue to develop my teaching through professional courses, resources and connections with other music educators.

My focus is on helping students become confident, well-rounded musicians with a lasting enjoyment of music. Exams can be a rewarding milestone for those who choose them, but they are optional. I don’t offer an exam-led programme focused on taking one grade after another. My approach suits families who value a broad musical education, with time to explore different styles, develop creativity and enjoy playing.

Alongside my children’s classes, I offer friendly adult groups, including an Introduction to Piano course and opportunities to continue learning. Whether you’re choosing lessons for your child or taking your own first steps at the keyboard, you’ll find a supportive place to begin.
